ON THE MARKET: Continental treats return to town
Tastes of France and Italy the star of popular event
UXBRIDGE High Street will be the setting for the sights and sounds of an authentic continental market for three days.
Market traders return from across the channel to pitch their stalls for the first time since before Christmas from tomorrow (Thursday) until Saturday.
Organised by international market event operators Savoir Fayre, this ever-popular continental food, fashion and objets d’arts market arrives back in Uxbridge on the first leg of its 2016 tour of the home counties, the Midlands and the south coast.
The continental sights, sounds and aromas will provide a happy distraction for shoppers, the High Street being lined with market stalls heaving with authentic, top quality continental treats.
There will be French and Italian delicatessens, breads, cheeses, mustards, savoury crepes and an array of cured meats including saucissons, chorizo and hams and a hot, juicy hog roast for anyone needing a tasty snack.
For the sweet-toothed and those in need of a pick-me-up there will be a selection of Sicilian biscuits, pastries and nougat and a range of gourmet coffees and cocoa.
As well as edible goodies there will also be items including glass, china and pottery, crystals and minerals, hand carved gifts, handbags and purses.
This will be the first of several visits in 2016 as the continental market has proved to be a popular attraction for the town.
