Shoppers flock to launch of new Aldi store

A NEW Aldi store was officially opened with a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday morning at 8am.

The Victoria Road store is the supermarket chain’s latest Greater London store as part of Aldi’s continued expansion across London, and offers customers ‘greater shopping choice and convenience’.

But drivers residents are and being warned of delays to their journeys thanks to shoppers keen to try out the new store.

Nearby resident Ken Hawkins said: “Traffic is logjammed in both directions in Victoria Road as traffic tries to enter and exit the site.”

The new store arrives ahead a £25.8 million development in South Ruislip, including an Asda supermarket and cinema complex.

Shoppers now benefit from 1,500 product lines at the store, including a range of fresh produce plus a wide range of weekly ‘Specialbuys’.

‘Specialbuys’ occur every Thursday and Sunday and offer customers a range of products from gardening tools to electrical items.

Chris Peters, Aldi store manager, said: “The team and I really enjoyed meeting our customers, and we hope to welcome more into the store in the coming months.

“The opening week ‘SpecialBuys’ seemed to go down very well, and we hope our first customers enjoyed shopping with us today.”

The store has created over 35 jobs for the local community, and Aldi is still looking to fill a number of vacancies including Assistant Store Managers, Store Assistants and Caretakers.
