Shop­pers flock to launch of new Aldi store

A NEW Aldi store was of­fi­cially opened with a spe­cial rib­bon cut­ting cer­e­mony on Thurs­day morn­ing at 8am.

The Vic­to­ria Road store is the su­per­mar­ket chain’s lat­est Greater Lon­don store as part of Aldi’s con­tin­ued ex­pan­sion across Lon­don, and of­fers cus­tomers ‘greater shop­ping choice and con­ve­nience’.

But driv­ers res­i­dents are and be­ing warned of de­lays to their jour­neys thanks to shop­pers keen to try out the new store.

Nearby res­i­dent Ken Hawkins said: “Traf­fic is log­jammed in both directions in Vic­to­ria Road as traf­fic tries to en­ter and exit the site.”

The new store ar­rives ahead a £25.8 mil­lion de­vel­op­ment in South Ruislip, in­clud­ing an Asda su­per­mar­ket and cinema com­plex.

Shop­pers now ben­e­fit from 1,500 prod­uct lines at the store, in­clud­ing a range of fresh pro­duce plus a wide range of weekly ‘Spe­cial­buys’.

‘Spe­cial­buys’ oc­cur every Thurs­day and Sun­day and of­fer cus­tomers a range of prod­ucts from gar­den­ing tools to elec­tri­cal items.

Chris Peters, Aldi store man­ager, said: “The team and I re­ally en­joyed meet­ing our cus­tomers, and we hope to wel­come more into the store in the com­ing months.

“The open­ing week ‘Spe­cial­Buys’ seemed to go down very well, and we hope our first cus­tomers en­joyed shop­ping with us to­day.”

The store has cre­ated over 35 jobs for the lo­cal com­mu­nity, and Aldi is still looking to fill a num­ber of va­can­cies in­clud­ing As­sis­tant Store Man­agers, Store As­sis­tants and Care­tak­ers.
