Just bowled over by new look club­house

HAYES bowls fans can now en­joy a newly ren­o­vated bowl­ing club­house in Pinkwell Park, af­ter re­ceiv­ing some ten­der lov­ing care from the lo­cal author­ity.

Hilling­don Coun­cil opened the new club­house on Mon­day, fol­low­ing re­build­ing work funded it funded.

Leader of the Coun­cil, Cllr Ray Pud­di­foot, pres­i­dent of Har­ling­ton Bowls Club – Frank Valen­tine – and Rus­sell Neal, a di­rec­tor at R. Ben­sons Prop­erty Main­te­nance, who un­der­took the work, were joined by bowlers and other park vis­i­tors to mark the spe­cial oc­ca­sion.

The works in­cluded re­mov­ing a large part of the ex­ist­ing pavil­ion and fit­ting new doors, win­dows, ceil­ings, fenc­ing, path­ways and gates.

A new kitchen and alarm sys­tem were also put in place and the heat­ing up­graded.

Mr Neal said: “Lon­don Bor­ough of Hilling­don and R. Ben­sons Prop­erty Main­te­nance worked in part­ner­ship to de­liver the re­fur­bish­ment works to Pinkwell Pavil­ion.

“The works were com­pleted within a tight seven-week pro­gramme.

“By work­ing closely through­out the con­tract, Hilling­don and R. Ben­sons Prop­erty Main­te­nance were able to build upon their ex­ist­ing re­la­tion­ship to en­sure that the works were sys­tem was un­der­taken to a high qual­ity, and de­liv­ered within pro­gramme.”

The club­house will con­tinue to be a valu­able com­mu­nity fa­cil­ity with a lo­cal foot­ball team us­ing the club chang­ing rooms and a chil­dren’s nurs­ery planned for early 2017.

Club pres­i­dent Mr Valen­tine said: “I think what the coun­cil has done here is re­ally good, it was a ram­shackle place be­fore.

“I think they’ve done a fan­tas­tic job of it and I’m more than pleased.”

Cllr Pud­di­foot said: “The coun­cil has em­barked on a pro­gramme of im­prov­ing and re­build­ing fa­cil­i­ties like this be­cause we be­lieve in sup­port­ing ac­tiv­ity and well­be­ing for peo­ple of all ages.

“This pavil­ion will be used by bowlers, foot­ballers, and when the nurs­ery opens in 2017, small chil­dren too.

“It is as­set for the whole com­mu­nity and I am de­lighted to be here on this spe­cial day.”
