Mum up for leading award after sharing her highs and lows
A BLOGGING Hillingdon mum has beaten off competition from more than 8,000 entries to make the final of the UK’s biggest blog awards, after documenting the highs and lows of becoming a mother – including her battle with postnatal depression.
Harps Kaur Bassan, a British-born Asian mum who was brought up in Southall, writes the blog ‘Baby Brain Memoirs’ and is one of just six finalists in the Best Preschool Blog category of the Mum and Dad Blog Awards 2016.
Baby Brain Memoirs shares the journey of Harps and her toddler, Arjun, since becoming a new mum.
Her honest and open memoirs sharing the highs and lows of her journey will have you in fits of giggles, in floods of tears and will tug at your heart strings.
Harps said: “I started writing my blog when Arjun was about 25 weeks old. As my blog name may suggest, I was struggling with remembering things and I wanted to document my journey – the highs and lows for Arjun, my husband and I to reflect back on.
“Baby brain is no myth. It’s so heart warming to know people enjoy reading about our adventures, my challenges as a new mum, a sufferer of postnatal depression and keeping up with Arjy’s antics.
“People all over the world have fallen in love with Arjun’s quirky personality through social media – he’s the real star.”
In her blog, Harps also covers reviews on holidaying with a baby, product reviews, vegetarian recipes and party planning.
She shares her journey of becoming a ‘mummypreneur’ in launching, Baby Brain Apparel – a quirky online kid’s clothing store inspired by the daily antics of Arjun.
She makes all the leggings and by hand and has hand-designed all the quirky T-shirts.
Harps added: “I’m so overwhelmed and touched by those that nominated us, and it’s such a great honour to have reached the finals of the awards.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d ever be a finalist for the MAD Blog Awards when I started blogging.”
The award winners will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington on Friday, September 16.
