Indie fans will enjoy a seat at Thrones gig
Hayes FM presenter Hughie Dixon reviews the live band scene
ALL the way from Reading come Thrones who are set to play at The Crown and Treaty pub on Oxford Road, Uxbridge this Friday 3rd of June.
Thrones are a duo consisting of Lonnie Storey (vocals\guitar) and James Carragher (drums and samples).
Their music will please ardent indie fans because it is exactly that. However, the sampling and atmospherics within adds a certain je ne sais quoi that broadens the already uplifting soundscape immensely and sits nicely as a foundation layer for a decoratively lucid delay guitar.
Occasionally the listener is lulled by an unprecedented, or at least unexpected resurgence of 80’s pop. Whatever it is that Thrones possess it has, in essence, a welcome familiarity woven into it’s originality. www.soundcloud.com/ wearethronesmusic
Support comes in the shape of the solo singer/songwriter known only as Westley plus another act that is, as yet, unconfirmed. It’s free entry to the Crown and Treaty before 10pm and just £5 after.
The live music starts at 11pm and there is, as usual, Yuck DJ Steven to take you through until about 3am.
