Throne into the hot seat
A GROUP of students took turns on the Iron Throne on a recent trip to Sky’s UK headquarters.
The group from the BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering learned about the technology and processes used in delivering viewing to the company’s 12 million customers in the UK and Ireland, when they visited the studios in West London.
They also tried out the king’s seat in Westeros where civil war rages in the cult series Game of Thrones.
After the visit, the students said: “The visit was motivational and inspiring and we learned a great deal, especially about the live broadcasting side of Sky which was very interesting.
“The experience was useful and fun and we really appreciated the opportunity.”
Dr Nagham Saeed, electronics lecturer, said: “The learners really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot about the communication technology implemented in Sky studios.”
