Appeal after violent assault

Police want to trace 32-year-old man

HILLINGDON detectives have released an image of a man they are trying to trace after a violent assault in Cowley.

John Donovan, 32, who is from the Hillingdon area, is wanted by police in connection with the incident, which left the shopkeeper victim in a serious condition.

Police were called after the assault at a shop in Moorfield Road, Cowley, at 8.17pm on Monday June 6.

A man entered the shop and picked up two bottles before attempting to walk out without paying for them.

The shopkeeper, a 56-year- old man, challenged the man – but was then assaulted by the man who struck him with the bottles.

Police cordoned off the parade and the victim was taken to a west London hospital by London Ambulance Service for treatment for serious head and facial injuries. He remains there in a serious condition.

The violence comes shortly after an explosion just streets away in Cowley, when cars burst into flames during the early hours of the morning.

Leading the investigat­ion, Detective Sergeant Pete Boyd, Hillingdon CID, said: “This was a particular­ly vicious assault which has left the victim with significan­t and lasting injuries.

“I am appealing to anyone who knows the whereabout­s of John Donovan to contact police as we urgently need to speak to him about attack.”
