Pedes­trian se­ri­ously hurt af­ter col­li­sion with car

Man in crit­i­cal con­di­tion with head and leg in­juries

A MAN was rushed to hos­pi­tal by air am­bu­lance on Fri­day evening (July 1) af­ter be­ing hit by a car in Cow­ley.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to Iver Lane at the junc­tion with High Street, in Cow­ley, just af­ter 6pm to re­ports a pedes­trian was in­volved in a col­li­sion with a car.

The man was flown to a hos­pi­tal in cen­tral London suf­fer­ing from head and leg in­juries.

One wit­ness, who lives in High Street, said: “The whole area was cor­doned off with po­lice tape all the way back to­wards the other set of lights.

“The po­lice, TfL [Trans­port for London] and am­bu­lance were there un­til around mid­night and left af­ter col­lect­ing all of the man’s items off the road and put them into a big clear bag.”

The emer­gency ser­vices were un­able to con­firm the con­di­tion of the man.

A spokesper­son for the Metropoli­tan Po­lice said: “We were called at 6.07pm in the evening to re­ports of a road traf­fic col­li­sion. “The man had a head in­jury.” Roads were closed af­ter the in­ci­dent un­til around 10pm.

London Am­bu­lance Ser­vice (LAS) at­tended the scene and sent an air am­bu­lance, am­bu­lance crew, a sin­gle re­spon­der in a car and an in­ci­dent re­sponse of­fi­cer.

A spokesper­son for LAS said: “We treated a man for a head and leg in­jury. He was taken by the air am­bu­lance to a ma­jor trauma cen­tre.”

The man was still in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the time of go­ing to press.
