THAMES VALLEY LEAGUE DIV 3B

Old Merchant Taylors’ 117 all out Ruislip 118-2 Ruislip won by 8 wickets

RUISLIP secured only their second win of the season by beating Old Merchant Taylors’ by eight wickets, enhancing their own survival hopes but dampening their opponents.

OMT struggled from the first ball and lost wickets at regular intervals which hampered their chances of mounting a respectable score.

Nikhil Rawal was the highest scorer at the top of the order with 27 and only a quick-fire 29 from Armaan Mahmood at the bottom of the scorecard prevented what could have been an embarrassing total.

In reply, Ruislip wasted little time in chasing down their winning total and opener Parminder Singh’s swift half century set up a comfortable innings.

His opening wicket partnership of 72 with Matthew Ayling was eventually broken before James Ingram and Afzal Rashid completed the job in just over 20 overs.

Meanwhile, Taylors’ seconds enjoyed a more successful afternoon with a six wicket win over Barnes.

A fine performance in the field saw OMT pick up three run outs.

Bowler Chris Nockels was the pick of the bowlers with 3-46 from just over nine overs.

After knocking off the visitors in 34 overs, the hosts were charged with a relatively simple run chase and completed the task in just over 13 overs.

Opener Guy Edwards top scored with 32 and Simon Broadley hit an impressive 21 off of just 7 balls which included four boundaries to help the hosts coast to victory.
