HIGH NOTES:
Busker takes her audience to new heights
REVELLERS at a Hyde Park festival have been treated to a nerve-racking concert from a Ruislip busker 100ft up in the air.
Daring street performer Charlotte Campbell put on an unforgettable show on Tuesday July 4 as part of the British Summer Time Hyde Park event after winning a competition run by The Busking Project and Barclaycard.
The festival ran between two weekends in July with midweek performances from Tuesday July 4 to Thursday July 7.
Charlotte took to the stage on the Barclaycard Betterview, a 100ft platform which was created so visitors could get a great vantage point of all the action.
Speaking before the exclusive gig, the 26-yearold said: “I’m thrilled to be playing this special set on Barclaycard Betterview and over the moon that my song ‘ Years’ was the winning song.
“I’ve never performed 100ft in the sky before, so it’ll be another first for me.”
The unique show came hot on the heels of Charlotte’s performance at Glastonbury, where she performed some classics as well as her own tracks, including the competitionwinning ‘Years’.
Buskers from across the country were challenged to write and record original songs around the theme of birthdays and Charlotte took the top spot and was given the chance to perform on the platform.
Nick Broad, a founder and CEO of The Busking Project, a community of street performers, said: “We’re delighted that talented busker Charlotte has won the chance and challenge of performing an exclusive set 100ft in the sky.
“We’re proud to be working with Barclaycard to promote emerging busking talent, and hope that music fans of all tastes will find something to enjoy in Charlotte’s set.”
British Summer Time included performances from Take That, Mumford & Sons and Stevie Wonder.
