Considerate town contractors praised

Company working at redevelopment receives an ‘excellent’ rating by scheme

-

CONTRACTORS working at an Uxbridge town centre office redevelopment have been rewarded for their efforts in keeping the community on side while they work.

Workers at Aviva Investors’ Belmont, the 125,000sq ft scheme have been given an ‘excellent’ certification by the Considerate Contractors Scheme.

McLaren is the lead contractor on the scheme, which is five months away from practical completion.

When completed, the office building will offer large, open plan floor plates of around 26,500 sqft (2,465 sqm).

The report stated: “The site has made excellent efforts to comply with guidelines for consideration in the community and that the CSR (corporate social responsibility) plan has reached out at several levels – charities have been considered and feedback sought. In a busy centre of town location, the absence of complaint (since the last visit) is testament to the site’s performance.”

Julian Cobourne, senior asset manager at Aviva Investors, said: “Aviva Investors is immensely proud of its contractors’ achievement in being awarded an ‘excellent’ certification by the Considerate Contractors Scheme.

such as career presentation at the Bishops Ramsey School as well as support for the charity food bank, beside Belmont, shows a genuine commitment to the local community.”

The inspection took place while construction works to the building frame were at an advanced stage, with internal fitting in progress.

Reinforcing Belmont as a true town centre location, the report noted that Belmont has a soft drinks company head office (Coca Cola) as a neighbour and a children’s nursery, while opposite there are retail outlets with accommodation over and beyond.

Uxbridge shopping centre is at the bottom of Belmont Road where all facilities can be found, and the bus terminus and tube stations are adjacent to the site.

The £30 million office a redevelopment is six miles from Heathrow and within easy reach of the M25, the M4 and the national road network.

The first class office scheme received full planning consent in June 2015.

It will include an additional fifth storey, two roof terraces and a full height atrium, while 171 secure basement car parking space and 116 cycle bays will be provided. The state of the art development will include renewable energy technology, energy efficient building services, a green roof and landscaped private terraces.
