Animal Rescue with Marion Garnett

Dedicated animal expert Marion Garnett, founder of the Ealing Animal Welfare Bazaar, continues her column

-

FOR several days, one of our cats has been staring at a cupboard with that unnerving concentration which cat owners will recognise as meaning they have located a mouse.

Convinced that could not be the case, we did not investigate.

The intent staring continued until we could not bear it any longer and had a look. Guess what we found? A water leak.

Who would have thought your cat could help you locate a dripping pipe. If your pet has surprised you with what they have helped you do, let me know on marion@garnett.online.

I am sure the gorgeous kittens currently in the care of Hounslow Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) all have their own talents and surprises. Six little gems are featured here but HAWS has many more.

Khloe likes to perform her trademark flying leap from the top of her scratching post onto the bed or, preferably, another kitten.

Brandon, her brother, loves to playfight.

Donna likes to climb onto your lap, but as soon as she sees her siblings playing cannot wait to get off and join in.

Tabika is adventurous, loves cuddles and needs to be homed with one of his siblings.

Alroy sits next to his foster mum begging for food to be served as soon as possible and Tori always looks like her tongue is sticking out.

If you can home one or two of these little darlings call 020 8560 5443. For details of the homing process see haws-animals.org.uk.

All homes will need a home visit and children must be at least four years old.

Look out for the HAWS stall at the Kew Horticultural Show on Saturday August 27 on Kew Green. They will be selling baked goods, hand-made soap and good quality bric a brac.

Finally, do not miss your last chance to take part in a Summer Monday event being organised by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

On each Monday in August, there will be a rehoming talk, an invitation to meet Battersea’s residents looking for homes and an opportunity to take part in arts, crafts and a treasure hunt with lots of treats. The events take place every Monday throughout August between 11am and 4pm on all three Battersea sites (Battersea, Old Windsor and Brands Hatch). Details from battersea.org.uk.
