Barrier at car park a danger to users

-

I AM a regular visitor to Uxbridge and have always used the Grainges Car Park, which, for as long as I can remember, was a pay and display.

However, for some obscure reason, Hillingdon Council have decided to install a barrier system.

I am not sure as to whether they realise how dangerous this is, especially leading up to Christmas with the amount of people that will be using this car park.

The queue to obtain a ticket stretches back onto Marjax Roundabout and this will lead, eventually, to a serious accident.

When leaving the car park, if you are disabled, you have to hold your badge up to the top of the ticket machine hoping that someone is in the office to let you out.

I waited 10 minutes at the exit last week with my elderly mother, as the attendant had gone to the gents.

Surely employing an attendant to patrol the car park or installing a pay and display where your number plate has to be inserted to obtain a ticket is more convenient for all.

Of course, this new system is a way to extract more money from local residents.

Clearly the brains behind this crazy new system does not use this car park and cannot see the dangers.
