Car fire causes ma­jor traf­fic chaos

A CAR fire on the A312 The Park­way in Hayes caused ma­jor traf­fic dis­rup­tion on Mon­day morn­ing.

The Lon­don Fire Bri­gade said it was called to re­ports of a car on fire at the Hayes By­pass to­wards Southall at 6.38am.

It sent one crew from Southall fire sta­tion, and said the fire was dealt with by 6.52am.

How­ever, the af­ter­math of the blaze, close to Bil­ton Way, near Minet Coun­try Park, was re­port­edly caus­ing still caus­ing traf­fic dis­rup­tion at 8.30am.

Trans­port for Lon­don (TfL) ad­vised mo­torists of a pos­si­ble car­riage­way re­stric­tion in place fol­low­ing the fire.

Its traf­fic cam­eras ap­peared to show traf­fic mov­ing at a crawl along the A312.

Traf­fic was re­ported to be mov­ing slowly on the road north­bound be­tween the A437 North Hyde Road/Hayes Road (Bulls Bridge round­about) and the A4020 Uxbridge Road (Ossie Garvin round­about).

Re­ports said traf­fic flow had re­turned to nor­mal at around 8.45am.
