Dunn the late hero in Denham’s cup bid

-

AIMEE Dunn bagged a lastminute winner to send Denham United through to the second round of the FA Women’s Premier League Cup on Sunday.

Denham (pictured) had cruised into a two-goal lead, thanks to goals from Jenny Banfield and Rebecca Fremch, but opponents Brislington hit back with two goals in quick succession to level matters before Dunn’s late intervention. However, the reserves crashed out of the FA Women’s Reserve Cup 2-1 to Charlton Athletic Reserves, despite a Charlie Leigh Dixon strike.

Charlotte Parrett bagged a brace, while Annie Walsh, Julia Thurauf and Katie Riddington also netted, as the U16s finally got their season going with a 5-0 win over Mole Valley, following two straight defeats, but the U14s went down 2-0 to Harpenden Colts.

There was double delight for the U11s, with the Wildcats beating Met Police Girls, thanks to goals from Maddie Perry, Lola Almendros, Ellie Trigg and Paige Hollie, while the Pumas beat Alexandra Park, with Jess Poulton and Phoebe Smith on target.

Meanwhile, playing girls a year older, in the shape of Old Actonians U16s, did not bother the U15s as they won 7-0, thanks to two goals apiece from Alisha Bajwa and Niamh Reynolds, an Amy Holdcroft effort and debut strikes from Rachel Strutt and Amy Doherty.
