New faces boost Boars

FIL da Costa bagged a brace as Eastcote Hockey Club’s men won 6-3 at British Airways in their final warm up game before the league programme starts.

Coach Lee Pettifer rang the changes and introduced some new players to the squad and the Boars were always in command in a scrappy game.

Peter Brooks, Ian Sadler, Ben Thorpe, Jimmy Thomas and captain Peter Brooks also netted as Eastcote raced into a 6-1 lead before BA pulled a couple back late on.

However, the ladies suffered a second league defeat in a row following a poor performance at Milton Keynes and had only a Marissa Gresophon goal to take away from their 4-1 defeat.

The men take on Oxford Hawks 2nds in their opening league game at Kings College Road at noon on Saturday, while the ladies host Witney at 1.30pm.
