Jostling, nosh­ing, de­lays – com­muters share their Tube woes

A NEW sur­vey re­veals com­muters’ pet peeve on the London Un­der­ground is over­crowd­ing in the car­riages, even top­ping the price of rail tick­ets.

Ac­cord­ing to the find­ings, those reg­u­larly us­ing the tube said the num­ber one thing they dis­liked most when go­ing from place to place is a packed car­riage.

But this wasn’t all – trav­ellers also ad­mit­ted their most dis­liked habit was peo­ple not mov­ing all the way down the car­riage, even if there is room in the mid­dle for more peo­ple.

The sur­vey, car­ried out by Mil­len­nium Ho­tels and Re­sorts high­lighted the plight com­muters face on a daily ba­sis. Here are the top five pet peeves of trav­el­ling on the

un­der­ground: Over­crowd­ing (37%) The cost of travel (26%) Hot tem­per­a­tures (9%)

De­lays such as red lights and sig­nal fail­ures (8%)

Other com­muters (6%)

But what were the top five habits that com­muters de­spise? Peo­ple who don’t move down the car­riage (32%) Peo­ple who play loud mu­sic (16%) Peo­ple who eat food (15%) Peo­ple who lit­ter (12%) Peo­ple who stand on the wrong side of the es­ca­la­tor (8%)

Adarsh Ranga-swamy, direc­tor of dig­i­tal mar­ket­ing at Mil­len­nium Ho­tels and Re­sorts, said: “We com­mis­sioned this sur­vey as part of our on­go­ing travel tourism re­search.

“London can be a stress­ful place to get around, so for the sake of our guests’ ex­pe­ri­ences, we have an in­vested in­ter­est in th­ese travel de­vel­op­ments.”

And it doesn’t there.
