AN END-OF-LIFE support charity in West Drayton has been left to foot the bill after a safe containing hundreds of pounds was stolen from its shop.

Police responded to a call shortly before 10.45pm on Tuesday October 11, to reports of someone breaking into the Harlington Hospice shop in Broadway Parade on Station Road.

Officers found the building had been entered but the suspects had since left.

Police were later informed that a safe containing hundreds of pounds had been taken.

Emma Waggot, the charity’s community fundraiser, told getwestlondon: “It’s had a huge impact, we are a small charity in the borough of Hillingdon and it impacts our services really, that amount of money being taken and the growing cost of having things replaced.

“We have to have the back doors of the shop replace, due to the damage, and a new safe as well. The money is raised from the goods in our shops that have been already kindly donated by people.

“For the money raised to be taken, it’s a difficult thing to understand.”

The charity is expecting to fork out £950 on repair work.

Although the shop has been crippled by the loss of money, they said they are grateful for the support which has been shown.

The charity is appealing for help from the local community, encouraging people to bring in goods as donations.
