24-hour Pi­cadilly tube will run west to Ter­mi­nal 5

WEST London res­i­dents will be de­lighted to hear that the Mayor of London has an­nounced the of­fi­cial start date for Night Tube ser­vices on the Pic­cadilly line to Heathrow.

The an­nounce­ment fol­lows the launch of the overnight trains on the Cen­tral, Vic­to­ria and Ju­bilee lines, which launched ear­lier this year, and more than one mil­lion jour­neys have been made since they started.

North­ern line users will also ben­e­fit as their 24hour ser­vices start on Fri­day Novem­ber 18, fol­lowed by the Pic­cadilly line on Fri­day De­cem­ber 16.

How­ever, Uxbridge ge will still not ben­e­fit t from the all-night ser­vices.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “I pledged to in­tro­duce five Night Tube ser­vices be­fore e the end of the year and it gives me great plea­sure asure to an­nounce the start date of the fifth of these, the Pic­cadilly line ser­vices.

“We’ve seen how en­thu­si­as­ti­cally Londoners have em­braced the Night Tube and I am de­lighted that we’ve ex­ceeded ex­pec­ta­tions with more than one mil­lion jour­neys made al­ready.

“The ad­di­tion of the Pic­cadilly line will help even more thou­sands of Londoners ev­ery week­end, from those tak­ing in the cap­i­tal’s cul­tural land­marks to the many work­ers who keep London open around the clock.”

Pic­cadilly line ser­vices will be run­ning just in time for Christ­mas be­tween Cock­fos­ters and Heathrow Ter­mi­nal 5, but there will not be 24-hour ser­vices for Ter­mi­nal 4, or be­tween Ac­ton Town and Uxbridge.

The Ju­bilee line launched 24 hours a day last month along the en­tire line from Stan­more to Strat­ford.

Trains run ev­ery 10 min­utes through Har­row, Brent and West­min­ster.

More than 50,000 cus­tomers used the first night ser­vices, in­clud­ing Mr Khan, when they launched on the Vic­to­ria line and parts of the Cen­tral line in Au­gust.

Man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the London Un­der­ground Mark Wild, said: “The Night Tube is mak­ing life eas­ier for our cus­tomers, with over a mil­lion jour­neys made on the ser­vice since it be­gan.

“Launch­ing the Night Tube on the North­ern line next month and the Pic­cadilly line in De­cem­ber is an ex­cit­ing devel­op­ment for London, which will en­able even more tube cus­tomers to make the most of ev­ery­thing this great city has to of­fer.”
