Strugglers inspired by Blues star

FORMER Uxbridge stalwart Craige Tomkins came back to haunt the Reds as their three-game winning streak ended in a fiery encounter with Chalfont St Peter on Saturday. Tomkins built a reputation for being deadly from the spot at Honeycroft and proved his worth again to set Tony Choules’ side on the road to a 2-0 defeat in a game which finished 10-a-side following the sending off of Saints’ Ronayne Marsh-Brown and Danny Julienne, for the Reds

Uxbridge fell behind when Miles HolmesKnight handled in the box in the first half. Tomkins, as usual, made no mistake.

Saints doubled the lead before the break when Kofi Lockhart-Adams teed up Alan Hedley, pictured. The touch-paper on a more even second half was lit when Hedley lunged for a loose ball on the touchline and appeared to be stamped on by Tayo Coker. The ensuing fracas took five minutes to resolve before Marsh-Brown was dismissed, while teammate Hedley and Uxbridge’s Mitchell Wiseman were booked – Coker escaped censure. Uxbridge could not make use of the extra man and evened up the numbers when Julienne saw red for a foul on Hedley late on.

Also in Southern One Central, Northwood lost 4-2 at home to lowly Kidlington, despite goals from Myles Stephenson and Louis Stead.

In Spartan South Midlands One, Hillingdon Borough thrashed Arlesey Reserves 7-1, and Harefield United won handsomely, 3-0 at home to Codicote, Aaron McLeish’s double and one for Luke Baldwin doing the damage.

In the Combined Counties Premier, Josh Quadry scored twice as AFC Hayes twice came from behind to draw at Badshot Lea.
