Summer signing Weiner makes an impact

-

NEW-girl Claire Weiner led the onslaught as an under-strength Denham United Ladies under-16s gained revenge in a win over Kinja on Sunday.

Beaten 4-1 in the reverse fixture and missing several players, Denham needed a spark and summer signing Weiner provided it, hitting a hat-trick in a 5-0 win for the hosts. Alketa Rragami also got on the scoresheet and Echo Barrett finished the rout with a wonder goal from outside the box.

Denham’s highest scorers this week were the U14s, who racked up nine without reply at home to Welwyn Garden City Pegasus. Maddie Kirby’s four-timer led the rout, with Melissa Asavoaie scoring twice, and there was a goal each for player of the match Merreisha Waul, Aislinn Rafferty and Tia Benaim.

The U11 Wildcats completed a clean sweep of six wins from six with a 5-1 victory over Sutton to win their first competitive minileague. Paige Holie scored twice and there were also goals for Madison Perry, Lola Almendros and Beckie Currivan.

A double from player of the match Tilly Wilson helped the U15s see off a spirited Bishops Stortford 4-1. Niamh Reynolds and Alisha Bajwa were the other girls on target, while there were outstanding contributions from Alice Finnigan and Amy Doherty.

The U10s triumphed 3-0 on their travels to Bedwell, Megan Attwell and Amelia Franklin also among the scorers, but goals from Phoebe Smith and Ruby Brown were not quite enough for the U11 Pumas in their cup semi-final with Pro Academy and the U13s lost 2-0 to Stevenage.
