Armed po­lice called af­ter pair are knifed

ARMED po­lice were called to Hayes af­ter two men were stabbed in broad day­light on Fri­day De­cem­ber 30.

A knife and a gun were spot­ted in a ve­hi­cle that fled the scene in Pump Lane.

Po­lice were called at around 1.40pm and of­fi­cers found two men suf­fer­ing stab wounds, one in his 40s and an­other in his 20s. Both men were taken to a west Lon­don hos­pi­tal with non life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

A 45-year-old man was ar­rested at the scene and has been taken into cus­tody at a west Lon­don po­lice sta­tion.

A po­lice com­mu­nity sup­port of­fi­cer and a bus driver at the scene also said they were threat­ened by a num­ber of men in a car.

Firearms of­fi­cers at­tended the scene and a search of the area is be­ing con­ducted.

The Met­ro­pol­i­tan Po­lice said the in­ci­dent is not be­ing treated as ter­ror­ist-re­lated.

A Met Po­lice spokesman said: “Po­lice were called at around 1.40pm on Fri­day De­cem­ber 30 to a re­port of a dis­tur­bance at Pump Lane.

“Of­fi­cers at­tended along with Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice and found two men, one in his 40s and an­other in his 20s, suf­fer­ing from stab in­juries.

“While of­fi­cers were on scene they were ap­proached by a bus driver and a po­lice com­mu­nity sup­port of­fi­cer who stated that they had been threat­ened by a num­ber of men in a car that had been seen at the lo­ca­tion. A knife and a firearm was seen in­side the ve­hi­cle which then made off.”

En­quiries are un­der way to de­ter­mine the cir­cum­stances of the in­ci­dents, the po­lice said.
