Missing cat returns after five days
A 17-MONTH-OLD cat that was missing for five days after being hit by a car finally made it to his home in Ruislip on Christmas Day.
Benny went missing from Whitby Road on December 20 and his owner Tracey Robson set out to find her beloved feline.
The tough young cat finally arrived home on December 25, suffering from injuries, including broken bones, after he was hit by a car.
Mrs Robson, 45, now faces thousands of pounds in vet bills after Benny required emergency surgery for his wounds and is asking for the public’s help to raise the money.
She said: “It’s a miracle he managed to get home. The vet thinks the day he went missing was the day he got hit by the car.
“I posted on Facebook ‘all I want for Christmas is for Benny to come home.’”
Benny made it home with five broken bones and he suffered a shattered pelvis.
Mrs Robson took him to her vet who said it would cost around £6,000 for his surgery, and the visit itself cost more than £800.
She has launched a Just Giving page in the hope of raising £4,000 to help cover the cost of the surgery.
So far the community has raised £465 towards the bills.
Mrs Robson said: “[The response] has overwhelming.
“I’ve not got that sort of money.
“I just need people to keep donating.
“I know this has come at an expensive time for everybody, but please, every penny helps.”
Mrs Robson said she had to cancel Benny’s insurance because of the costs and that she is unable to work because of numerous health problems.
Benny underwent his surgery in east London on Wednesday December 28 and Mrs Robson said he is recovering well.
His leg is currently in a cast, but he may need another operation to fix it in place with external pins. been
