New se­ries on Heathrow re­unions

TEAR­FUL re­unions and emo­tional wel­come homes will be fea­tured in a new Chan­nel 4 doc­u­men­tary about ar­rivals at Heathrow Air­port.

Ar­rivals, the one hour show, will cap­ture the in­ti­mate mo­ment thou­sands of peo­ple ex­pe­ri­ence as they pass through the halls of Heathrow’s ter­mi­nal.

Nar­rated by Julie Wal­ters, RDF Tele­vi­sion West’s pro­gramme came to life af­ter the com­pany spent sev­eral weeks in the four ter­mi­nals wait­ing to cap­ture the var­ied sto­ries.

More than 1,000 peo­ple ar­rive at the west Lon­don travel hub each day, to­talling 75 mil­lion pas­sen­gers from 84 coun­tries each year.

Heathrow Film­ing Man­ager Rachel Betts said: “Ar­rivals re­ally cap­tures that ‘Love Ac­tu­ally’ at­mos­phere that is present in the ar­rivals hall, abuzz with peo­ple wait­ing for their loved ones.

“We hope view­ers will recog­nise that ex­cit­ing feel­ing of be­ing greeted by some­one they love and en­joy hear­ing the var­ied and in­ter­est­ing sto­ries of the many that do the same ev­ery day.”

The heart-break­ing sto­ries in Ar­rivals are told through the eyes of pas­sen­gers and their wait­ing loved ones, all unit­ing un­der the same roof. From long-lost friend­ships to newly found ro­mance, it cov­ers the emo­tional spec­trum of see­ing fa­mil­iar faces.

The pro­gramme was com­mis­sioned by Dom Bird, Head of For­mats at Chan­nel 4.
