Will unique number plate make serious capital?

Exclusive registration goes on sale for a cool £2.5million

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS - By David Rivers david.rivers@trinitymirror.com

A NUMBER plate based in west London has gone on sale for £2.5million in what the seller says is an attempt to break the British record.

The plate says “LO17 DAN”, reading as “London”, and appeared on eBay to be collected from an address in Middlesex.

It was purchased from DVLA’s website on Tuesday for £799, the government agency confirmed.

But the seller says pictures posted on eBay are for reference only and are “not included”, so it is not clear what the real version looks like.

An account under “avdhudala-0” has not put the item under auction, saying that payment must be immediate, but that he will “accept reasonable offers”.

The seller says: “Private cherished registration for sale

“But today I sell you a cherished registration that I hold on DVLA retention

“Which everyone worldwide knows & reads LONDON: LOI7DAN.”

“Most sought after number plate in the UK,” the item information on the listing goes on to say.

“It will look amazing on any car and anyone who sees it, will know instantly what the plate reads and means.

“It is one of the most valuable number plates to be sold in the UK to date.

“You are not only buying a number plate but will also be a part of history. Once sold, it will also be the most expensive number plate to be sold on UK soil. The buyer will make history and get recognition on that basis.

“This is a valuable cherished number plate cost me a lot, I brought it as a financial investment but need to sell due to other financial commitments. I hold the number plate on retention.

“I have already had offers of £500,000 but it worth a lot more. I have not put this on auction as I do not want a bidding war. Payment to be made immediately.”

The current British record for the most expensive number plate reads “25 O” and was sold for £518,480 in November 2014 and was put by John Collins on his 1960s Ferrari 330 LMB, once owned by Eric Clapton.
