River death ‘not suspicious’

THE death of a man who was found in the Frays River near Uxbridge’s Cowley Road is not believed to be suspicious, the Metropolit­an Police has revealed.

Police were called to the busy road just outside Whitehall School at 7.53am on Tuesday, January 3 after reports of a body in a river nearby.

When they arrived on the scene officers recovered a body.

The Met Police said enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and his family has not been informed of the death.

The footpath running between the river and Cowley Road was closed off on January 3 as a police cordon was put in place.

A statement from the Met Police said: “Police were called to Cowley Road in Uxbridge at 7.53am on Tuesday January 3 to reports of a body in the river.

“Officers attended and recovered the body of a man. The death is being treated as unexplaine­d and at this early stage is not believed to be suspicious.”

No arrests have been made and police said enquiries continue. A post-mortem examinatio­n to be arranged in the near future.
