River death ‘not sus­pi­cious’

THE death of a man who was found in the Frays River near Uxbridge’s Cow­ley Road is not be­lieved to be sus­pi­cious, the Metropoli­tan Po­lice has re­vealed.

Po­lice were called to the busy road just out­side Whitehall School at 7.53am on Tues­day, Jan­uary 3 af­ter re­ports of a body in a river nearby.

When they ar­rived on the scene of­fi­cers re­cov­ered a body.

The Met Po­lice said en­quiries are on­go­ing to es­tab­lish the man’s iden­tity and his fam­ily has not been in­formed of the death.

The foot­path run­ning be­tween the river and Cow­ley Road was closed off on Jan­uary 3 as a po­lice cor­don was put in place.

A state­ment from the Met Po­lice said: “Po­lice were called to Cow­ley Road in Uxbridge at 7.53am on Tues­day Jan­uary 3 to re­ports of a body in the river.

“Of­fi­cers at­tended and re­cov­ered the body of a man. The death is be­ing treated as un­ex­plained and at this early stage is not be­lieved to be sus­pi­cious.”

No ar­rests have been made and po­lice said en­quiries con­tinue. A post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tion to be ar­ranged in the near fu­ture.
