Lawyers’ fees eat up cash for services
I would like to, yet again, voice my opinion on why Hillingdon Council has decided to oppose the expansion of Heathrow? They are wasting £50,000 of taxpayers’ money, (yes, that is yours and mine), to fund a judicial review against the goverment’s decision to endorse a new runway at the UK’s only hub airport.
This is shocking enough but, this is in addition to the £154,219 of public money that Hillingdon Council has already spent on opposing Heathrow expansion from January 2015 & August 2016!
Myself and a lot of local people don’t believe that Hillingdon Council should be wasting more taxpayers’ money on expensive lawyers, just to pursue its own political agenda when the money could and should be spent on vital public services including (but not limited to) housing, social care and the elderly. For the past seven to eight years Hillingdon Council has boasted about freezing the council Ttax. This has been to the detriment of the aforementioned services. This wasted money could and should have been used where it was needed more.
Hillingdon Council and its leaders should hang their heads in shame. BARRY NELSON-WEST Granville Road Hillingdon
