Rossiter treble sets club on road to win

-

JOE Rossiter started 2017 with a bang as West Drayton Explorers under-10 Reds stung Langley Hornets in a goalfest on Sunday.

Rossiter laid claim to his first match-ball of the year in an 8-4 win, the other goals coming courtesy from man-of-the-match Euan Hlubanyana, Ethan Cupido, Charlie Penil, Harry Todd and Tristan Villacrusis.

Two other Explorers, Oliver Longley and Kajus Cepas, hit hattricks in losing causes.

The former notched a treble for the U9 Reds against S4K Wolves and though man-of-the-match Thomas Mickale added another, it wasn’t enough to prevent a 5-4 defeat.

Cepas’ hat-trick came as the U7s lost 9-5 to Windsor. Amondio and Phillip Ponski were Explorers’ other youngsters on target while Storm Wolfe was named their man of the match.

There was better news for the U12s as they won a tight encounter with Burnham 2-1, man-of-the-match Adam Devlin scoring both goals.

There was a battle for bragging rights between the U10 Purples and U10 Blues as they met in their first league clash. The Purples won the day with the game’s only goal from Rokas Darzinkas.

Meanwhile, the U11 and U16s started the year with draws. The latter shared four goals with Widmer End, Ayub Raabi and Charlie Rogers the Explorer scorers and Godwin Osifo was on target for the U11s as they drew 1-1 with Ickenham Youth. Elsewhere, the U8 Reds suffered a 6-1 defeat to Burnham.
