Five-goal blast sees Denham hit back in style in Suffolk

-

UNITED proved comeback kings as they won on their travels at Lowestoft on Sunday.

The journey looked destined to be fruitless when the Ladies trailed 2-0 early in the second half but Annie Hewitt and Nat Murray had other ideas, each hitting quick-fire doubles, and with Aimee Durn also getting in on the act as Denham came home with a 5-2 win.

The under-16s made full use of a player advantage as they thrashed Rushmoor Saints 8-2. The hosts could only field 10 and Annie Walsh soon had Denham 2-0 up with headers from Charlotte Parrett corners

Alketa Rragami then hit a double of her own before Jessica Stickley, Julia Thurauf, Maddie Vilday and parents’ player of the match Parrett added to the tally.

The U9s made a winning start to life in the Hertfordshire League against Berkhamstead Mercurials, with Grace Barrell, Chelsea-Rose Keary, Georgiana Rohan, Sara Sharma and Harpriya Bajwa all amongst the goals, but the U15s were beaten for the first time this season as they went down 3-0 to Watford Hornets despite outstand- ing displays from Holly Symons and Georgia Knott.

The U13s were missing a trio of key players due to illness as they lost 1-0 to St Margaretsbury, while the U11 Wilcats were even more depleted for their game at Sutton United where they found the home keeper unbeatable.

Chloe Beckwith’s goal wasn’t enough for the U12s as they lost 2-1 to Pro Direct and Amelia Franklin was on target for the U10s as they lost to Garston Leopards.
