IF you are thinking of adopting a cat and would like some help choosing one, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is hosting an exclusive matchmaking rehoming evening on Valentine’s Day, February 14.

Called Feline Lonely, their expert matchmakers (also known as the Cat Rehoming Team) will be on hand during the evening to offer guidance over how to find your dream cat.

Besides meeting the cats, you will also be able to pose for a photo in front of Battersea’s photoboard, take part in a feline quiz and nibble sweet treats. There are two sessions, firstly 5.30 to 7pm and, secondly, 7 to 8.30pm. Tickets are £7 per person including a drink on arrival and must be purchased in advance from battersea.org.uk. This special evening takes place at Battersea’s rehoming centre at 4, Battersea Park Road, SW8 4AA.

Scarlett is waiting there, at the moment, to find her perfect match. She arrived at Battersea after her owner moved overseas. Scarlett can come across as confident but she also has a shy side.

This gorgeous girl is looking for a family who has owned cats before and will understand that she may take some time to settle. Even though she prefers to spend much of her day indoors, she would still benefit from being able to go outside if she wants to. Marion Garnett,

If you would like to meet Scarlett she is waiting for you at Battersea (address above) or call 0843 509 4444.

It’s not just the Valentine evening that Battersea is hosting. Every month, in their London Cattery, they also host a Knitting Kittens Club during which supporters can knit mice, blankets and toys for the Battersea residents or, alternatively, can knit items for their own pets using Battersea’s animals as inspiration.

All levels of knitting expertise are welcome. Admission is £2 with the next meeting taking place at Battersea on Wednesday February 15 (5pm to 8pm).

Visitors to next month’s Ealing Animal Welfare Bazaar will have the chance to hear first-hand more about the work of the world-famous Battersea rehoming centre.

Together with other groups such as Sea Shepherd, Save the Asian Elephants and Animal Aid, Battersea will be giving a presentation as part of the Bazaar’s fantastic programme of talks.

There will also be lots to buy. The Ealing Animal Welfare Bazaar takes place on Saturday March 4 (10.30am-4pm) at Hanwell Methodist Church, Church Road, W7 1DJ. More details from animal welfare bazaar. info. Admission is free.
