- By Jon Batham tms-sport@trinitymirror.com

The former Liverpool, Tottenham and England midfielder is pictured with the youngsters after a 5-3 reverse, where the goals came courtesy of a Ollie Hunt double and one from man-of-the-match Brandon McCarthy.

The U9s had their own onpitch ‘celebrity’ as Donnie Side hit four in their 8-4 win over Whitton Wanderers. Cristiano de Sousa scored twice with Jasiah Mathurin and Frankie Side also on target.

Two other Sandgate sides are one match from a crack at silverware after reaching the semi finals of their league cups.

Adam Smith’s double and one apiece for Rasharn Gordon, George Riglin and Mikey Martins saw the U13 Arrows win 5-4 against Football Samurai.

The U10 Colts’ win was just as tight, Chouaib Halfaoui’s double and one from Nabil Mezali, seeing them through 3-2 against Hampton Rangers Juniors. Defender Kingsoloman Abati was man of the match.

The U16s thrashed SCR Purple 6-0 in the league with goals from Abdi Ganamo, Valentino Buonanno, Akash Gautam, Mohammed Ali, Aj Davit and Aaron Brown. And the U10s also hit six as they beat Claygate Royals. Kunmi Omojola led the way with a hattrick with Joshua Dean, Harley Shanks and Sharman Baiwa also on the mark in a 6-3 win.

The U7s were Sandgate’s youngest side on show and beat Hillingdon Abbots 5-1. Ahmed Abdullah and Harrison Shepherd both scored twice, and Luke Burns was on the mark with David Turek man of the match after his best performance this season.

The U12 Colts and U13 Blades were Sandgate’s other two sides to win. Alfie Clark, Daniel N’Somi and Jorsh Padda scored for the former in a 3-1 win at Gunnersbury Eagles and an Okash Islow strike and an own goal saw the Blades over- come Twickenham Tigers 2-1.

The U11s were the only Sandgate side to draw, Jake Pickett and Isaac Olum scoring in a 2-2 draw with Motspurs FC.

Goals from Liban Aiden, Yusuf Abdi and Mohamed Mohamed weren’t enough to save the U17s from a 6-3 defeat to Kew Park Rangers, while the U12s were unlucky to go down by the odd goal in three at Carshalton Athletic.

The U14s lost to the game’s only goal against Hampton and the U14 Colts lost 4-2 at Twickenham Tigers despite strikes from Kufre Effanga-Peter and Bailey McGrath.

The U12s and U15s are both looking for players. Anyone interested can call Rob Bevis on 07720 735045 or email sec retary@sandgatefc.co.uk.
