SARGEANT’S HOME WIN HOPES DASHED
JONNY SARGEANT’S hopes of revelling in home advantage were dashed at Hillingdon on Saturday.
It was the last of West Drayton MBC’s three races at the circuit – all of them attracting full fields of 80 riders for the seniors plus opportunities for ages down to under-eights.
Sargeant was the club’s sole representative on Saturday and was leading the big bunch until 200 metres from the line despite efforts to split the field. But in sight of the line he faded and came in third.
Five Hillingdon riders who went to France for the 50km sportive in Boulogne were rewarded by fast times.
