A CARER has been charged with attempted murder following an attack on a 90-year-old grandmother in Yiewsley.

Abosede Adeyinka appeared in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday May 1 and was told she would be remanded in custody before her next court appearance on May 30, at The Old Bailey.

The victim, who is said to be in a stable but critical condition in hospital, was injured at her home, in Lilac Place, at around 8pm on Thursday April 27.

Adeyinka, 52, of Hayman Crescent, in Hayes, was charged on Saturday April 29.

The victim suffered a stab wound to her neck and head injuries during an incident that shocked the community.

More than £1,000 has now been raised for her on a crowdfunding page, set up by Yiewsley resident Joanne Killick.

She said she was “heartbroken” to hear of the incident and said: “No one deserves this. Elderly people are treasures of the community and should be treated with respect.

“So we can all, as a community and out of respect to the 90-year-old, raise some money for her.”

The original £500 target was smashed in 24 hours and the current total stands at £1,090, raised by 70 donations.

Michael Nettle, a generous donor who pledged £200, wrote: “Shocking moment in anyone’s life, but at 90?

“Hope this lady does not get put off from doing her normal everyday things and has a full recovery.”

Another supporter, Shelley Sandeman, wrote: “I have been so upset and sickened by this, but I take heart in how our community pulls together in times of need. Hoping for a full recovery for this lovely lady.”

Ms Killick is overjoyed by the response and hopes the donations keep coming in to help the elderly grandmother.

She added: “This is excellent and so kind of you all for your generosity,

“Let’s raise the bar and smash this for her. Thank you all you lovely bunch.”

Det Insp Claire Hine said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything that could assist our investigation to come forward.”
