Act now to save police station
My previous letter to the Gazette drew attention to the possible closure and sale of Uxbridge Police Station and suggested that readers should consider the undesirable consequences should this happen.
I now discover that the decision has already been made to close and sell the station and the Hayes station has been nominated as the main station to serve the whole of Hillingdon to the extremities as far as Harefield.
These and other decisions were outlined at a recent well attended public meeting where a multiplicity of other possible cost savings in the Police Services affecting other parts of the Borough were also .outlined, all-be-it in a very unclear and confusing manner.
Discussion at the meeting was extensive and was predominantly strongly against the proposal,
particularly the suggestion that Hayes has been selected because of its central location and ease of public access. This idea was met with total derision.
It was explained that the changes had been determined by office of Mr Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London and the Police have no alternative but to comply.
The decision will shortly be finally confirmed and implementation will follow.
It would appear that the only chance of changing this decision is by urgent and strong public objection and representation through all levels of public office from councillors to members of parliament.
No doubt your readers will consider and take appropriate action.
