Injuries to police rise
A TOTAL of 2,600 Metropolitan Police officers were injured while on duty during the first half of 2017, the Gazette can reveal.
New figures show a rise from 2,467 during the same time last year, with an increase of 289 injuries as a result of being assaulted by a person.
Almost half of the officers assaulted between January 1 and June 30 this year were physically assaulted by a person, 1,111 in total, compared to 822 during the same period in 2016.
