Racial ha­rass­ment: man ar­rested at Bees match

A FOOT­BALLER was al­legedly at the re­ceiv­ing end of racial ha­rass­ment at a re­cent match day in Brent­ford.

A man has been charged fol­low- ing an in­ci­dent in­volv­ing a Brent­ford FC player, who has not been named, on Tues­day Septem­ber 26.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened at around 8.30pm in­side the grounds of the Grif­fin Park sta­dium in Brent­ford, po­lice said.

The Bees were play­ing against Derby County where they equalised just be­fore full time on their home turf.

The Metropoli­tan Po­lice’s Foot­ball Unit con­firmed the charge on Twit­ter, say­ing that a Derby County sup­porter had been ar­rested in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent.

Christo­pher Boyes, 32, from Southamp­ton, was ar­rested and charged with a Sec­tion 4A pub­lic or­der and racially ag­gra­vated har­rass­ment.

He is due to ap­pear at Uxbridge Mag­is­trates’ Court for a hear­ing on Wed­nes­day Oc­to­ber 11.
