Blueprint for flats at police HQ
WORK BEGINS ON LUXURY HOMES OFFERING AMAZING VIEWS AT NEW SCOTLAND YARD
LUXURY homes will be built on the site of the former New Scotland Yard building vacated by Metropolitan Police last year – offering some of the most amazing views of the city.
The 72 state-of-the-art apartments will be located at the Broadway site which was home to London’s police force from 1967 to 2016.
Work has begun and is expected to be completed in 2021, on what developers are saying “will be a vibrant 1.72 acre quarter”.
Among the highlights of the development, called The Broadway, will be six architecturally striking towers, a 20,000 sq ft public courtyard and pedestrianised piazza, complete with an array of new shops, cafés and restaurants.
It will include 16,000 sq ft of health, fitness and spa amenities, featuring a 25m pool, gym and personal training studio, treatment rooms and a spacious, state-of-the-art games room, that can be booked by residents as additional entertainment space.
The development is being put forward by Northacre and the global investment group Abu Dhabi Financial Group (ADFG).
Northacre CEO Niccolò Barattieri di San Pietro said: “We are looking forward to creating another prestigious neighbourhood in London – a vibrant new hub for an area, which despite its unrivalled location, views and transport, has long been undervalued.”
Jassim Alseddiqi, CEO of ADFG said: “The Broadway represents the future of urban living, a thriving destination to live, work and play in a world class address surrounded by unparalleled views of London’s most famous landmarks.”
The Met relocated to the slimmeddown Curtis Green building at Victoria Embankment a year ago in a bid to save money.
