Birds of a different feather
FEED the birds – but keep it clean!
Garden birds benefit from you providing appropriate food and fresh water throughout the year, and in springtime you are helping out when they have many hungry young mouths to feed. But did you know, that many garden birds die every year of diseases caught from dirty feeders and water bowls?
To minimise the risk to your feathered visitors, make sure that feeders are cleaned weekly and water bowls on a daily basis, rinsing and drying before refilling. By rotating feeding areas you can also help to avoid the build-up of fungi and bacteria on the ground. Keep them elevated too, to avoid attracting mice, rats and other unwelcome guests.
Enjoy the rewards of seeing the birds continue to return to your garden by keeping their feeding environment safe and disease-free.

Looking for loving home
Kicia is a rather stunning girl who is in need of a lovely new home and lots of love. She is seven years old and a fairly quiet lady, but she really enjoys a fuss and being pampered with gentle grooming.
Kicia is an indoor cat, so requires a spacious home where she has room for plenty of exercise. She does like to be the centre of attention and would therefore prefer a home without other pets or young children.
Kicia is a little on the voluptuous side and is currently on a diet. Her new owner will need to keep that up to help her regain a healthy figure.
Could you open your heart and home to the lovely Kicia?
Millie makes good
Millie’s world fell apart when she found herself homeless after her owner sadly died. This beautiful three year old came into our care in January. After having Millie spayed, microchipped and vaccinated, we set about looking for the perfect home. A couple of weeks later, we were delighted when Millie left us to join her lovely new family. Her ‘Mum’ has recently been in touch to let us know how Millie is getting on.
“What a little treasure she is! She’s settled in so well, has chosen her favourite chair and has a lovely time playing with her catnip sock and long pheasant’s tail feather. Thank you for looking after her and for letting me adopt her.”
If you can offer a loving home to any of our animals, please call us on 01895 833417 or visit www.rspcahillingdonclinic.org.uk to apply.
