YOUNGSTERS AT CHURCH PRODUCE PHOTO EXHIBITION

-

TEENAGERS from a Ruislip church took to the streets to turn the Gospel stories into a local photography project.

The 15 to 20 youngsters from St Martin’s CofE Church decided to explore the accounts of saints Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and see which ones most connected with them.

They roamed the streets of their local community seeing where, in their own lives, they would stage the events of the Gospel today.

They even took to the Tube for a visit to the National Gallery, in Trafalgar Square, to see how the great artists explored these events.

Eventually the team produced a display relating the events of Jesus’s life with their photos, some of the great art that inspired them and prayers and readings. g

Eve, 11, said: “I enjoyed being out and about and thinking differently about things.”

Ben, 12, said: “It was interesting thinking differently about the place I live in, and thinking differently about Jesus.”

Fr Jack, the assistant curate at St Martin’s Church, Ruislip, said: “We wanted our young people to have fun being part of the church family, as well as engage more deeply with God and their faith.

“We also wanted to help them to think afresh about our community and local area, and see how God is at the heart of our everyday human experience.”

St Martin’s Church, in Ruislip High Street, is open all day every day and everyone is welcome to visit and admire the y youngsters g creative display. py
