Health service heroes get deserved recognition

-

FROM front line to back room, the heroes who keep the National Health Service running in a busy part of west London have been recognised for their work.

On Friday May 4 The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust held its annual staff awards to honour employees who have gone ‘above and beyond’ through superb caring, with skilful innovation and by clever teamwork.

Awards were made in six categories. Dozens of others were thanked for their long years of service, enjoying a moment in the spotlight to receive a commemorative certificate and applause from around 200 colleagues gathered at the Park Inn Hotel at Heathrow.

The awards allow the Trust – and the Hillingdon public – to say ‘thank you and well done’ for another year of hard work and dedication from the people who work at Hillingdon and Mount Vernon hospitals.

The Compassionate Care Award is given through public nomination, for a staff member who has ‘seen the person not the patient’ and delivered superb care.

Many are nominated by their patients themselves, or their friends or family.

And another member of staff is honoured for an outstanding demonstration of the Trust’s own ‘Cares Values’.

Trust chief executive, Shane Degaris, said: “I am incredibly proud to be the chief executive of such as caring and committed team.

“Given we have experienced our toughest year to date it is even more impressive that our staff are willing to go the extra mile to provide the best possible care for patients.”
