POSH PARLOUR OWNER WINS PERMISSION FOR CAFE – BUT CONDITIONS WILL BE ATTACHED TO ALCOHOL LICENCE

-

LONDON Instagrammers’ favourite pastel-hued cake parlour is opening a new venue in another fashionable postcode.

Peggy Porschen, the award-winning cake designer to the celebrities, and the lady behind Belgra- via’s Peggy Porschen Parlour, has scored permission to open a new flagship store in Chelsea.

The parlour will serve savoury offerings as well as cake at a King Street concept store, set to open later this year.

The sweet-toothed and social media-obsessed set have been turning out in hordes to the Ebury Street cake shop since it was opened in 2010.

The millennial-pin, floraldecked cafe has attracted A-list celebrities including Madonna, Kate Moss, and Gwyneth Paltrow, plus selfiesnapping influencers.

The original Belgravia parlour has frequently topped Britain’s “most Instagrammable” cafes and London’s best bakeries lists, and hit reality show Made in Chelsea has even filmed scenes there.

At the Ebury Street store, a pastelclad London Instagrammer who goes by Rachel Konichiwakitty online was among crowds snapping photos at the shopfront, and posed for the Gazette’s MyLondon website before she headed to celebrate her birthday.

The application sought permission to sell alcohol every night, which attracted one objection from neighbouring Glebe Place’s residents.

Their submission said nearby pubs already caused enough noise in the residential area, writing that it was “incomprehensible” that a cake shop would need a licence to sell alcohol on week-nights.

They asked that the alcohol licence either be refused or the hours for selling booze be limited to earlier times.

The council confirmed the application was granted, but with conditions yet to be finalised.
