PROTESTERS AT THE ROYAL COURTS OF JUSTICE TO BACK ANTI-EXPANSION AT HEATHROW
HEATHROW Airport has been voted among the world’s best by travellers.
Environmental activists, politicians and hundreds of Londoners living under the flight path have taken a stand against the planned third runway this week, but no matter how unpopular it may be with some in our city, it is a hit with globetrotters from elsewhere, or so a new study by flight comparison website eDreams suggests.
In fact it was the only UK airport to make the top 10 in the survey, which quizzed 79,857 eDreams customers who travelled through international airports in 2018.
So Heathrow only came seventh, but it beat Stansted, Luton, Manchester and Birmingham, none of which ranked in the top 10.
Airports were rated out of five for their shops, restaurants and waiting rooms, and while Heathrow did not come top in any of these categories, it did improve on its score from last year when it was 10th on the list. Heathrow’s shops and restaurants scored 4/5 stars each and its waiting rooms got 3.5/5.
Factors including customer service, check-in waiting times, queues for passport checks, good transport links and easy flight transfers were not taken into account.
According to a study by eDreams, these are the 10 best airports in the world right now: 1. Singapore Changi, Singapore 2. Brisbane Airport, Brisbane, Australia
3. Zurich Airport, Zurich, Switzerland
4. Franz Josef Strauss, Munich, Germany
5. Istanbul Airport, Istanbul, Turkey 6. Arlanda, Stockholm, Sweden 7. Heathrow, London, England 8. Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, Thailand
9. Fuhlsbuttel, Hamburg, Germany
10. Ben-Gurion International, Israel
