Teenager jailed for breaching order

-

DEAD animals have been spotted amid a pile of flytipped rubbish in Hounslow.

The rubbish is next to the River Crane, where litter and debris could easily fall into the water, and has disgusted one resident so much she has asked Hounslow Council to remove it several times, although no action has been taken.

When she discovered dead animals in the massive mound of debris, though, she decided it was time to take action herself.

Dr Umme Khanzada said she discovered the piles of rubbish in Park Lane, next to the River Crane in the Cranford area of Hounslow, almost a year ago, and she is now organising her own clean up of the area because she said the council has not sorted the problem.

She said: “There is rubbish everywhere. It’s all spilling into the river.

“We’ve got a dire situation now.

The rubbish has been here for months.”

She added: “This wildlife haven has been destroyed because of people chucking litter.

“I’ve been reporting the problem to the council since December last year and there’s been no change. They keep closing my report without doing anything.”

As a biologist who is passionate about the environment, Dr Khanzada decided to take matters into her own hands.

She organised a clean-up with the local Heathrow Mosque, which took place on February 8 and around 200 people came on board to help remove rubbish.

Following the clean-up, Dr Khanzada said: “We have had a successful morning along Park Lane with the great help of the Park Lane Heathrow Mosque volunteers and community members.”

Another clean up was organised for Sunday to improve the situation further.

In a message to Heston Acton

Group about the upcoming cleanup, one person wrote: “Wildlife deserves much better than the rubbish that ends up in the River Crane.”

When MyLondon got in touch with Hounslow Council about the issue, Councillor Guy Lambert, lead member for highways, recycling and trading companies, said the council is “committed to reducing flytipping in Hounslow”.

Cllr Lambert said: “Hounslow

A 19-YEAR-OLD man banned from entering Ealing Broadway in August 2018 for “disruptive behaviour” defied the Criminal Behaviour Order earlier this month.

Dillon Goulon was caught inside a home in Oxford Road, Ealing town centre, on February 11.

Police raided the property as part of a drugs warrant following concerns raised by local residents.

When officers gained entry into the home, they found three people inside, one of which was Goulon, of Warwick Road, Ealing.

Goulon was arrested for breaching the Criminal Behaviour Order and was remanded to Ealing Magistrates’ Court.

He appeared at the court the next day and pleaded guilty to breaching the order. The teenager was jailed for 10 weeks and fined £122.

PC Darren Boast, part of Ealing Broadway Safer neighbourhoods Team, said after the sentencing: “Our team worked hard to secure a Criminal reduce the impact of flytipping on the environment. We are committed to reducing flytipping in Hounslow and our enforcement team continues to gather evidence from flytipped items in order to investigate the source of dumped waste and impose fines to offenders. Behaviour Order against Goulon back in August 2018 due to his disruptive behaviour on the ward.

“The aim was to improve the quality of life for our local community, a task which we strive towards every day.

“Goulon chose to disregard these conditions and has now been sentenced to 10 weeks imprisonment, which highlights the consequences of breaching a CBO.”
