-

EALING is a “safer place for all” now a thug who hid a sawn-off shotgun and dozens of cartridges in a communal area where he lived has been jailed.

Marcus Mascall, 31, was sentenced to six years in prison at Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday July 2, after pleading to being in possession of firearms and drugs in west London.

Officers from the Met Police raided Mascall’s Southall home at 3.35am on January 11 after gaining intelligence that he had weapons at the address.

A sawn-off shotgun, 90 cartridges and a blank firing Glock gun were found in ceiling panels in a communal corridor outside his home.

Cocaine and Class C steroid drugs were also found at his home.

He was charged and remanded to court on the same day.

DNA and fingerprint evidence were later linked to Mascall.

Detective Constable Kai Murray, from the Met’s Specialist Crime South, said: “This operation led to firearms and ammunition being taking off the streets of London. I have no doubt that the firearms recovered would have been used to cause serious or even fatal injuries.

“Firearms have absolutely no place on our streets and the removal of these makes London a safer place for all”.
