- By CHARLIE LAWRENCE-JONES charlie.jones@reachplc.com @charlielljones

THE victim in the fatal Hayes shooting has been formally named as 23-year-old Shakur Hassan.

Tributes have poured in for the “kind soul” and “decent” local man, also known as Abdishakur or Shak.

He died at the scene in Austin Road, Hayes, on the night of Tuesday October 13.

Emergency services were called shortly before 10pm and despite the work of the paramedics he died.

Two arrests have been made so far, but both people were later released with no further action.

A murder investigation has been launched following the killing.

Many in the community are devastated about the tragic incident.

They and others who knew Shak have come forward with tributes.

Nikki, who only gave her first name, lived next to Mr Hassan in a block of flats in Silverdale Road, overlooking where he was killed.

She said: “He’s been my neighbour for 19 years. It’s hit me hard, but it’s hit my daughter harder. She was friends with him.

“He was so polite. He was really helpful. He often helped me with the shopping.

“He was always talking to me and everything else. So when I heard the news today, I felt physically sick.”

Others took to social media to express their condolences.

One wrote: “My boys gonna really miss you, I still can’t believe it.

“Who’s gonna help neighbours with shopping, who’s gonna play footie with the kids, who’s gonna tell my boys that someone took your life away?”

They continued, saying he was a “kind soul that was just taken from us”.

Another wrote: “He was a neighbour of mine on this estate where we both lived. I know at times like this

everyone always finds nice things to say, but he was such a nice bloke.”

In a video tribute, a friend Suleyman Ameen broke down in tears.

He said: “I remember from when he was a kid. He was one of them guys who was just known in the area.

“He was born in Hillingdon and he died in Hillingdon.”

A crowdfunder has been launched to try to support Mr Hassan’s mother.

Suleyman Ameen added: “His family are mourning, his mother hasn’t got enough funds for her to cover the funeral costs, for her to look after her family.

“She’s a single mother, she’s got no husband to help her.

“Imagine if this was your brother. This is someone from the community.”

Almost £7,000 has already been raised in just one day.

Police have asked anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin, from the Met’s Specialist Crime South team, said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with Shakur’s family and friends.

“I want to reassure them and the wider community that my team and I are working hard to piece together the circumstances that led to this tragic outcome.

“The investigation is very much in its early stages and we continue to follow all lines of inquiry and remain open minded as to who was responsible.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Austin Road at the time of the incident.

“Did you see anything suspicious? Do you have footage or information that could assist my team?

“Please share anything you saw with either the police or Crimestoppers, no matter how insignificant you may think it is.”

Anyone who has information that could assist police is being asked to call 101 quoting reference Cad 7454/13Oct.
