Run the river and help raise charity cash

BRITS spurred on by the nation’s Rio Olympics gold rush have been urged to hit the streets of London to help fund a better education for some of the country’s poorest children.

Some 3,000 people are expected to pound the banks of the Thames on Tuesday September 6 for Run the River 2016, raising money for the charity Teach First - and it’s not too late to sign up.

Participants can walk, jog or run 5km or 10km that evening, from 7pm, along a scenic riverside route taking in landmarks like the Tower of London and Tate Modern.

The event, now in its third year, helps fund Teach First’s work in schools across England and Wales to tackle educational inequality and ensure no child’s life chances are limited by their parents’ income.

This September, Teach First will place over 600 highly talented teachers at 378 schools in deprived communities across London and the south east, reaching thousands of children.
