A LANDMARK development arrived (albeit somewhat delayed!) last week, with the London tube running 24 hour ser vices for the first time since its advent in 1863.

There will be, and have been, critics of the development who may have safety fears, others who lament that at present it only includes the Nor thern and Central lines, and others who remain tucked in bed during the late hours and believe it to be unnecessar y.

What it does show is an ongoing commitment to link up and connect par ts of the city. We know that transpor t can be a major factor in the decision of homeowners when deciding where to put down roots, and proper ties dotted around the Nor thern and Central Lines will likely now see a boost as a result. Not only this, but the city economy should benefit from an increase in activity and with nights out now not having to result in a subsequent expensive Taxi or Uber journey, businesses in Central London should see increased footfall.

If successful, this move, now that the unions and government have come to some agreement, may also rollout a fur ther expansion and with it a boost to all proper ty hotspots touched by the tube lines. This should be seen as a positive signal for those considering London proper ty, and could mean that now is a good time to buy prior to the rollout of more ser vices.

In other good news, City economists have revised economic forecasts upward, and although there has been a slowdown, predictions are for growth rather than recession. This is a good sign, and we are urging the new London mayor to consider more economy boosting measures and wise infrastructure spending that makes sense and is likely to bring more people through London businesses.

With interest rates at historic lows, transpor t improvements being brought in around the city, it looks like the current market is at a breathing point where there are oppor tunities to be had before things ramp up again!
