Hello Lolly – It’s so nice to have you back where you belong

-

WE all know that we should do our bit to support our wildlife and one of the easiest and best things to do is keep a little patch of your garden overgrown and natural.

The butterflies, bugs and small animals love it but there comes a point when it needs tidying up and out comes the strimmer!

If you put on some sensible footwear, a pair of gloves and some safety glasses you will be fine and the job will be done in no time.

Unless, of course, you come across four tiny kittens curled up in the long grass as one local gardener did.

Sadly, one of the kittens had been caught with the strimmer which resulted in many lacerations across her body, ears and legs but worse still, fractured toes on her front paw.

As mum was nowhere to be seen the gardener contacted the RSPCA and the inspector brought the kittens to us.

The injured kitten (known as Solero) was treated by the vet and has been very brave, taking her medicine quite happily and is healing well.

Happily, after 3 days apart mum – Lolly – was found and has been reunited with Solero and the three other kittens – Magnum, Calippo and Cornetto – which means that she can feed them herself and first time surrogate mums Jackie, Pete, Holly, Lauren and Nicole can have a well-earned rest – a huge thank you to them for stepping in to help.

Each year we have to raise more and more money to care for our animals.

This year we will spend £214,000 on direct care on top of which, we need to fund salaries and other costs, such as vehicles too.

If you are able to make a donation towards caring for Lolly and her beautiful family we would love to hear from you. You can contact us on the number below or you can drop a donation in to one of our shops.

If you think you could offer a forever home to any of the cats and kittens we currently have in our care then please call us on (020) 8966 9688 or email us at: info@rspcamiddlesex.org.uk.

You can see more pictures of Lolly, Solero, Magnum, Calippo and Cornetto plus many of the other animals (rabbits, cats and kittens) in our care on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/RSPCAMNW Don’t forget you can follow us on twitter too @RSPCAMIDDLESEX

And finally... we still need loads of soft toy animals for our fundraising events so when you have a few minutes peace now the kids are back at school why not sort out their cupboards and help us care for our animals?

Just drop them in to one of our shops http://www.rspca-middlesex.org.uk/how-to-find-us/
