Celebrate orchestra’s 31st season

-

ENJOY an evening with the German Masters when the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra perform a selection of their favourites to mark their 31st season.

The concert will begin with Schumann’s Manfred Overture, one of the composer’s most imaginative and well-loved works inspired by the poem of the same name by Lord Byron. Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No.2 in E-flat major will follow and seduce listeners with its lyrical melodies and dazzling virtuosic effects. For this the Orchestra will be joined by soloist Joseph Shiner, an acclaimed clarinettist and recipient of numerous prizes who was recently featured as a BBC Music Magazine ‘Rising Star’ in their Great artists of tomorrow series.

The concert will conclude with Brahms’ Symphony No.1 in C minor, the composer’s epic answer to Beethoven that wonderfully illustrates his skill at magically blending romantic passion with classical discipline. Highly dramatic and expressive this work promises to provide a grand finale to this celebration of German composers.

The HPO was formed in 1985 and is now well established in the area with over 60 registered members.

‘An evening with the German Masters’ will be led by Mackenzie Richards and conducted by founder of the Orchestra, Peter J Williams.

The concert takes place on Saturday October 8 at 7.30pm at St Paul’s Church, Ruislip Manor.

Tickets are £12 (concs £10, children 11-16 £5, under 11 FOC) from Pro Music International, 19 Swakeleys Road, Ickenham or Tel. 01895 674223. Tickets also available on the door.
