Scooters on and debris off the path

-

HAVING heard through the media that there have been eight deaths recently involving mobility scooters, I am not too surprised.

One elderly gentleman who travels daily on his, between Clovelly Way (off Kings Road, South Harrow) to Rayners Lane, is a tragedy waiting to happen! His vehicle is rather rickety, and not supposed to be on the road. When I myself am on foot, I tell him to ‘get on the path’. He smiles, and when he thinks I can’t see him, he’s back in the road, obstructing buses.

There are a lot of reckless drivers about, who would run him down, and not even bother to stop!

I hope one of his family might see this and warn them. He’s been doing it for years. He probably drove a car, in the past, and thinks of it as his car!

A second point – several months ago, the council ordered a number of trees to be lopped. For the most part, cut down to stumps. Now the Tree Surgeons have been back, and all that remains are splinters, and sawdust! Very detrimental to the well-being of all creatures great and small, who do not have footwear to protect them! The council have a large hose for sucking up leaves (I have seen it) so by the same token, please spare a thought for the animals, and clear all wood shavings up! It is also another from of littering!
